Zhivko Girginov | Piano

Mr. Zhivko Girginov began learning piano at age of 7 and ultimately obtained with distinction his Bachelor’s Degree in Musical Pedagogy and Piano Performance at the Academy of Music and Dance Art Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

Drawing inspiration across multiple disciplines, visual arts and even R&D technologies, Mr. Zhivko’s creative headway further developed simultaneously in different realms – music and visual arts, often merging them into an organic entity being a Cinematographer of many music videos and concerts that were nation-wide broadcasted on TV, as well as being a Producer and Director of Photography of several feature movies, and a Journalist / Cameraman at a number of TV stations.

Since his settling down in Singapore in 2009, Mr. Zhivko has been teaching full-time piano and music theory, as well as providing aural training and piano accompaniments to the full range of examination grades and diplomas, for both kids and adults of all ages.

Esther Wing | Piano

Esther was first introduced to the piano at the age of 5 through private piano classes in Australia. Growing up, Esther sang in the choir and played the Pipa in her high school orchestra; these were important musical avenues which cultivated her love for music. She also broadened her musical experience by pursuing the graded ABRSM exams, and Diploma exam which she successfully completed with Distinction. Her goal is to achieve a Master’s Degree in Music and become an excellent piano performer and teacher.

Having personally experienced the joy that music can bring, Esther is passionate about sharing this with others. Through interacting with students from all walks of life, Esther believes that music is a universal language and thus dedicates her time to tailoring her teaching syllabus to each student’s musical goals so that they too can enjoy their musical journey.

Beatrice Boey | Piano

Beatrice started playing the piano at the age of 5 and hasn’t stopped since. She is classically trained and has completed Grade 8 in both solo and duet piano with Distinction and are currently pursuing diploma.

Beatrice started playing the piano at the age of 5 and hasn’t stopped since. She is classically trained and throughout her life, she surrounded herself with music, never saying no to an opportunity to grow further.

She is part of the worship team for her church, where she serves as a pianist. This is where she was part of a local band and learned to play as part of a team, where they had a weekly jamming session and has performed for many events and concerts.

When it comes to excelling in music, she believes in dedication and discipline. That being said, she believes that the most important takeaway from a piano class is that the student enjoys it, regardless if it is for leisure or examination purposes.

Sue Ann | Piano

Sue Ann holds an ATCL Diploma in Piano and plays the pipa and violin instruments too. Music to her is a means of communication, means of growth and means of transportation in her life to another.

Sue Ann loves children and enjoy being with them. To her, the biggest satisfaction of being a teacher is that it allows her to show the children how music can bring happiness into their life.

She believes that learning music should be an enjoyable journey. She always keeps her lesson fun and uses different approach to engage with different types of learners. Her aim is to groom her students to be a confident performer that can express their feeling through the music they play.

Sue Ann is well liked by both her students and parents and is often being described as cheerful, approachable and responsible.

In her years of teaching, all the students whom she sent for exam has achieved 100% pass with many achieved merits and distinctions.

Piano Grades

In the past, the ABRSM was the sole music examination board for the piano. Over time, several other piano examination boards have sprung up, each catering to specific niches within piano. These include:

Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM)

The ABRSM places a focus on classical music, with no improvisation. An objective of the ABRSM is to ensure that piano students are sound in their fundamentals and able to play a musical piece as was intended by its composer. Students taking ABRSM piano classes can expect a highly structured approach where classical orientated pieces are produced down to their exact notes.

London College of Music Examinations (LCME)

The LCME places a focus on jazz music, with much freedom for improvisation. In the LCME, all pieces require improvisation.

Trinity College London (TCL)

The TCL places a focus on pop and rock music, with a focus on harmony and rhythm. In the TCL, students perform on keyboard accompaniment for pop and rock genres. Here, harmony and rhythm is tested through a playback or improvisation test.
